Upgrade Virtual Office

Virtual Office users - your upgrade is here! We appreciate your patience while Virtual Office was reprogrammed to accommodate changes in the Rapattoni database! Download instructions for current Virtual Office users follow. Remember, this is an upgrade for current users. You must have version 6.4 installed on your computer and have used Virtual Office with the Rapattoni MLS before using this upgrade.

If you chose not to use the last upgrade to the 32-bit version, this upgrade will install the 32-bit version and a new user interface - the screens have a different look. The 16-bit version will not function correctly. Placement of icons and especially the location of some functions have moved to other screen locations. Virtual Office still does all the things you're used to, the start locations are different.

Please read through the Upgrade Instructions carefully before beginning. The sequence of the instructions are critical to a successful installation.  Click here for a printable version of the following instructions so you can refer to it while doing the installation!

UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS

1.  First, open Virtual Office on your computer to delete your entire database. From the main window click on Utilities at the top to open a dropdown menu. Select Delete then select Entire Database. Click the Begin button then confirm deletion by clicking Yes to the first two confirmation windows. The third and fourth confirmation windows ask if you want to delete pictures, answer No.

2.  Close Virtual Office.

3.  Disable all antivirus software, adblock software and firewalls! If you are downloading through an office connection, the office server may be set to block some files needed to install the new software. Please contact your office system administrator to verify the server will allow you to download executable programs.

Make sure your internet connection is open, then click here to go to Hillside Software site. Locate and click the Downloads button at the top of the window.

4.  Locate the Virtual MLS Desktop option that includes SWMRIC then click Upgrade.

5. Follow the directions on the Download page. We've copied the download page below:

Click the following button to Run and Install the latest Version.

INTERNET EXPLORER 6 INSTRUCTIONS

Please ensure that your Virtual Office Software is closed before you proceed. After clicking the "Run and Install" button the following dialog box will appear. Be sure to select "OPEN". From here on reply as necessary to the prompts which appear on your screen. This will complete the installation.

6.  Read and follow the directions on each screen, as they appear. If asked a question on a screen, remember, the correct answer is Yes or OK. One question you will be asked is to restart your computer. Be sure to respond by clicking OK or Yes.

The speed at which the file downloads is determined by your internet connection.  The faster your internet connection, the faster the files are transferred.

7. After you restart your computer, do not open Virtual Office and, again, disable all antivirus software, firewalls and adblocking software that may be installed on your computer.

First, check that your Virtual Office desktop shortcut connects to the pcpics32.exe file.  To check, right click on the shortcut, select Properties then verify the Target box contains C:\PCPICSW\pcpics32.exe. If the Target entry box contents match, click here to read hints for using the new version of Virtual Office. Your installation is complete, you can begin using Virtual Office.

If the contents of the Target box contain any other path, close and delete this shortcut icon then create a new icon.

To create a new shortcut icon, follow steps 8 thru 10 below.

8. Right click on an empty area of your desktop to open a menu. Locate NEW on the menu then move your mouse in the direction of the arrow to popup the submenu. Click on Shortcut to open the Create Shortcut wizard.

9.  In the entry box on the Create Shortcut wizard type "C:\PCPICSW\pcpics32.exe" (without the quotes). See the example below.

10.  Click Next, name the shortcut if you want, then click Finish. You now have a new Shortcut on your desktop to open the new version of Virtual Office.
